The name of the Westbeat residential and office building, based on a design by Studioninedots, refers to its location west of Amsterdam's Old Town, but above all to the music, the beat and the flow that young creative people bring to the Nieuw-West district and for whom Westbeat is to become home, a meeting place, a place to work and to live. With its ten storeys and massive brick façade made up of around 450,000 bricks, the building looks like a monument. This impression is supported by the strict arrangement of the windows on the upper floors, but broken up again by the round arches in the plinth area, which are designed in different shapes.
